Nacho Cheese Sauce

Homemade nacho cheese sauce for the win:


INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 ounces cheddar cheese or processed American cheese
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Whisk in flour and cayenne pepper and cook 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Whisk in milk and bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce the heat to low and add in cheese.
  • Stir until cheese is melted.
