Starting Off Strong in 2019!

The basement has been my shame for several years now.

When we first moved in, the house was tiny so I kept the basement clean and had a little area for the boys to play with their Legos. We assumed we'd finish the basement at some point, but then realized that it was just too damp down there to make that a feasible solution. We gave up and put on the addition instead.

During the construction, there was a lot of work done in the basement that led to it being absolutely covered in thick dust and grime. More and more stuff filled it up and it became a total behemoth of a project.

Until now!

Ben got bit by the purging and selling bug and I'm happy to jump in right alongside him. We've been getting rid of things I thought he'd never let go of and it's inspired me to do the same.

There aren't any "before" pictures, but the "in-progress" pictures are scary as it is.

It's seriously disgusting! I realize the pictures don't do the grime factor justice, but trust me, it's there.

Ben installed about 4 bright new lights so that really brightened things up. The back of our car is FULL of donations, and Ben burned about 25 boxes (yes, we're hoosiers who burn stuff).

I've gone through every.single.storage bin. It was pretty eye-opening.

So, that's what we have going on here.

I'm getting over a crummy cold, but I had some energy today so it felt good to accomplish something worthwhile. It's totally worth it to keep up the pace we've started.

So, that's our 2019 beginning! I'm hoping this is a good sign of things to come for this year!
