Thomas Sappington House Pioneer Day

A couple weeks ago, I learned that the Smithsonian was offering free tickets to select museums across the country. Several museums in the area were participating so my mom and I decided to request tickets to the Sappington House.

The house tour was really neat. The home had been very well preserved and had few updates so it was a wonderful example of an early 1800s dwelling. Every tour guide was very knowledgeable and they were even dressed to fit the part.

After the tour, we wandered outside from booth to booth. There was a couple selling local honey, an axe-throwing station, a spoon carver, and much more.

I hadn't realized, when I bought tickets for the tour, that they were hosting an event, too. That was a really nice surprise.

Lots of events are hosted here and many of them sound really unique and fun so I'm sure we'll be back in the near future!
