2018 Vacation Day 1: Louisville

It's road trip time!

After much back and forth discussion, here's what we're driving this year:

Somehow the boys are too big to sit comfortably in the back of a regular SUV for hours and hours at a time. We seriously discussed driving two vehicles, but a local dealership had this available and it was a good deal, too.

Day 1 was just a driving day and we didn't have far to to so we got up at a reasonable time and were able to pack up and straighten the house at a good pace instead of scrambling.

We stopped in Louisville, KY to stretch our legs. We ate a picnic lunch at the riverfront park and the boys enjoyed a neat playground they found. After a while we hopped back in the van and drove down to the bridge.

The Big Four Pedestrian Bridge provided a nice walk and a good view. Friends have since told us that they light the bridge in multi-colored lights at night. That would be awesome to see!

After finding a hotel in LaGrange, we drove back to Louisville for dinner in a bustling area called The Highlands. We found a local coffee shop and a couple of neat bookstores. Explored a bit and then called it a night.
