Happy Halloween 2017

Oh Halloween. The boys agonize over their costumes every year and it makes me want to pull my hair out and say, "Enough!" Then I start thinking about how it won't be long and they won't care about Halloween anymore and that makes me sad and I try to treasure where we're at here and now and not try to rush past or through things.

After much debate and two Halloween stores, here's what they ended up with:

I don't know where Gabe gets his ideas, honestly. Until he decided on this, he was going to be "paper bag man" and just wear a paper bag on his head. No joke. This boys certainly has a creative streak!

Luke is at that age where he still wants to dress up, but finds most of the costumes childish. We don't celebrate the dark, scary side of the holiday so he really struggled. I happened to stumble upon this and he loved it. Bonus: he can wear the sweats as pjs!

As in years past, we met up with a family and had dinner and trick-or-treated around their neighborhood. The bigger kids went off on their own and the younger kids went with the moms. After everyone meets back up, the kids all settle in the basement to dig through their stash and trade candy while the adults chat around the fire pit outside. It was cold this year, but no rain so we were grateful for that!
