Disney Trip 2017

We knew we'd be travelling to GA to see my new niece so Ben suggested we tack on a few days and drop by Disney, too.

Day 1: Driving

Our first day was just driving, driving, driving. We decided to surprise the boys with the Disney portion so they thought we were just going to see baby Isla. They were completely in the dark.

Day 2: Surprise!

I'd purchased a Disney shirt for each of us. I placed the shirts around the room and put each person's Magic Band on top. The boys woke up and we prompted them to get dressed. Gabe, not recognizing the shirts on top of his luggage, just couldn't connect the dots. He kept looking around asking, "But where is our suitcase?!" We just laughed and laughed. They put the pieces together and were excited. There was a twinge of disappointment when they realized it would be another week before meeting their cousin, but once they were assured that, yes, we were still going to GA, they were ready to roll.

We arrived on property at around 4.

We checked in, looked around the hotel lobby, and then dropped our stuff off in our room. We spent the evening at Disney Springs. It was all decked out in Christmas cheer!

We enjoyed browsing the stores and listening to the various musical performers scattered around. The gluten-free bakery is here in Disney Springs so we each picked something out to save for breakfast the next morning.

Dinner was a disappointment in that we couldn't find anything. Disney still has some work to do in this department. The website for one restaurant stated that they had GF options, but once we got there the only thing they had that was still GF were their salads. Another place was listed as a drop-in, but when we arrived they said they were only accepting reservations. Oy. We were really hungry and crabby so we went back to the hotel and ate at the Cantina.

Day 3: Animal Kingdom

We weren't able to Fastpass the newest ride, Flight of Passage, so we made sure to get to the park as soon as it opened and headed straight there. We'd heard of people waiting 3+ hours to experience this particular ride, but there was no way we were doing that. It turned out we only had to wait an hour! There was plenty to look at on the way and the line moved quickly. It was a neat ride, but over so fast!

Lunch was at the Satu'li Canteen and ended up being my favorite quick eat of the week. So good.

We also rode/saw, Everest, The Lion King show, It's Tough to be a Bug, and Primeval Whirl.

Mid-afternoon, we headed back to the hotel to take a quick nap. After our nap we walked around the lake to a neighboring resort.

The playground here was really neat.

We spent an hour at the arcade. The boys LOVE arcades, but are too pricey to go often. We made an exception this time. I even got in on the fun and played a tank game with Gabe.

We had reservations at the Animal Kingdom Lodge so we headed over there. Since we arrived about an hour early, we decided to explore the lodge and grounds. I was bowled over!

The lobby was full of neat artifacts from Africa. The outside was so beautiful. Firepits scattered around, we saw zebras and giraffes right outside in the enclosures.

Dinner was eaten at Boma - Flavors of Africa. The food was unique and delicious. The boys did great with trying new things. I was really proud of them. It was a buffet so we were able to try a little bit of everything.

Stuffed and tired, we made our way back to our hotel and crashed!
