Yellowstone Vacation Day 7: More Yellowstone
Fri. August 19th
The skies were gray and there was a chill in the air so we decided to get our picture taken at one of those old time photo places.
We arrived just as he was opening so there was no waiting. We all picked out outfits, hats, and props and got to it. It was a blast! I'm so glad we have one of these now!
After the photo we headed back to Yellowstone. This time we went to the Canyon Village Visitor's Center where the boys turned in their books and received their badges. Then we headed North to see the Little Grand Canyon and the falls.
The LeHardy Rapids is a nice place to stop. There's a short trail that leads you right next to Yellowstone River. Gabe loved climbing over all of the rocks and fallen trees.

The Little Grand Canyon was busy. Be prepared to wait for parking and to wait your turn for a good shot.

We then headed West toward Mammoth Springs. We killed time at the gift shop waiting until the dining room at the Mammoth Springs Hotel opened up. It was a really nice and pricey meal, but since it was our first real meal of the day we could justify it a little bit. I even had a glass of wine.
Of course, after we were done with dinner we viewed Mammoth Springs.
It was a long walk with several inclines and a few sets of stairs. Be prepared for a workout!

I wish the pictures could do it justice. It's so fascinating up close. And, thankfully, not very smelly!
Instead of backtracking again, we decided to leave the park via the North entrance and stay the night in Livingstone. I'm glad we went out this way just so we could see the arch.
