Yellowstone Vacation Day 13: Henry Doorly Zoo and Omaha

Thur. August 25th

We headed straight to Omaha and made tracks to the Henry Doorly Zoo.

As we were approaching the ticket booth a nice lady came up to me and offered to get me and Gabe in on her family pass! I was thrilled by her generosity because it saved us nearly $30!

Zoos aren't usually something we get overly excited about because we're so spoiled by the St. Louis zoo. While this zoo charges admission, it is very well done! Also, when you think about it, since they include a butterfly house and an aquarium, it's actually a very good deal.

There's also an area that reminds me a lot of Grant's farm. There are goats you can brush and a barn and lots of farmyard animals to look at.

The zoo is HUGE! It's nearly impossible to get through. We did our best before throwing in the towel and heading over to our hotel.

Because we had earned a free night, we decided to stay at a nice hotel, the Magnolia. It was stunning!

Both boys had been complaining about homesickness for a while. Gabe really missed the cats. Not much we could do about that. Luke really missed playing guitar. We found a Guitar Center nearby and Ben and I took him to play for a bit.

After dinner we headed over to a gelato/coffeeshop downtown. Then we walked around a bit, popping into different shops. It was a perfect evening for walking and exploring.

We returned to the hotel and watched tv for a bit. The boys loved our huge room and were having trouble settling down for the night. It was hard to believe this would be our last night away from home!
