Yellowstone Vacation Day 10: Grand Tetons

Mon, Aug. 22nd

We ate breakfast at the Cowboy Cafe and walked around picturesque Dubois for a bit. I found a thrift store and had to pop in. Of course.

Then we packed up and headed back to the Tetons. This time we stopped by the dam at Jackson Lake.

Next, we headed to Jenny Lake. There we took the ferry across the lake and hiked up to Inspiration Point.

This trail was neat, but it was too busy for my liking. Also, it's very steep and there are no restrooms. At all. So make sure you go to the bathroom and fill up those water bottles before you even step foot on the ferry. It's going to be a while!

The lack of water is what forced us to turn around at Inspiration Point. You can continue hiking for miles and miles into Cascade Canyon, but we'd only brought one water bottle for the 4 of us and my mil and bil didn't have any water at all.

We ate dinner at a chuckwagon-type place near Antelope Flats. It was pricey, but the food was good and all-you-can-eat. Everything was cook in and served from large cast iron dishes.

It was evening now, but still plenty light so we headed over to Mormon Row.

I'd read great things about the Laurance Rockefeller Preserve, but the hikes were simply too long for us at this point. Everyone was worn out. We decided to get a jump on a hotel in Jackson for the night. I was bummed to leave so soon and I had a feeling no one would want to go back.
