A Denver Wedding
This past week we traveled to Denver for my brother's wedding. It was a whirlwind, but well worth it.
We packed and cleaned the house on Saturday. I had the sudden idea to look into an Air BnB instead of a hotel. We browsed several rentals in the area and found one that was a great price and had everything we needed. Luckily it was free for the 5 nights we needed it.
Sunday morning found us up and at 'em early. We drove straight through and arrived at about 8:30pm. A local pizza place, Fat Sully's, offered gluten free pizza so we ordered in and unpacked.
The next morning we slept in a bit and then drove around the area. We found a really fun store called The Wizard's Chest that was full of all kinds of board games, costumes, and fun geeky stuff.
There wasn't much time to do anything else so we headed back to the house, got dressed, and then headed out to the wedding.
I was anxious about getting there on time, but something had gone wonky on the google invite and the time was off. Turns out we arrived about an hour and a half early!
All of the other guests were there, too, so we spent time catching up and then introduced ourselves to Amanda's family. We helped set up a bit and I took the opportunity to snap pictures of the boys since they are so rarely dressed up.

The lodge where the ceremony was held was so neat. Everything about it was perfect for a wedding.

I hate to say I don't have any pictures of the wedding. Paul set up his camera and I didn't want my flash to get in the way.

After pictures came the cake. Instead of one big cake, they opted to get 3 small cakes. Such a cool idea. They were beautiful!
[caption id="attachment_2647" align="aligncenter" width="300"] One of three cakes. Red Velvet![/caption]
[caption id="attachment_2659" align="aligncenter" width="200"] Another cake...blueberry, I think.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_2648" align="aligncenter" width="200"] Beautiful Bouquet![/caption]
Amanda's brother performed the ceremony. It was funny and heartfelt and definitely brought tears to my eyes. Little did I know....
As the guests enjoyed their cake, Paul stood up and read a speech he'd written. He choked his way through it and there wasn't a dry eye in the place by the time he was done. Total tearjerker. He talked about his love for Amanda and the ways she's changed his life. It was beautiful.

I wish I had more pictures. It was a beautiful 73 degrees with hardly a cloud in the sky. It was perfect!
After we got the new couple packed up we headed back to our rental, quickly changed, and then headed over to a place downtown called The Thirsty Lion. We had dinner there with Paul, Amanda, Justin, and Jen (a friend of Paul and Amanda's).
After dinner, the new couple moved on to another dinner with her family and Justin walked around town with us. We walked to the trains, hit up Union Station for coffee, and toured The Tattered Page book store.

This was a great place to eat! The food and drinks were good and the manager sent over a free bottle of champagne for the table. So thoughtful. To keep the good vibes going, Justin surprised us all by paying for everyone's dinner! Blown. Away.

Justin came back to our place and we visited for a while before he headed back to where he was staying. We were exhausted and called it a night.
