The (Not So) Good Ol' Days

On Monday, I had a bad cold pop up suddenly. I was miserable all Monday evening and night, and all day Tuesday. My sinuses did that thing where they're blocked and yet drip constantly so that you can't breathe and yet can't stop wiping your nose. So fun.

I had the humidifier and diffuser both going, and my night table was buried in tissues, homeopathic nasal spray, and a homemade lotion bar to soothe the dried and cracked skin beneath my nose. Paints a lovely picture, doesn't it?

As I lay in my bed, taking all of this in and feeling a bit sorry for myself, I remembered that there was a time in my life when I had felt like this more often than not. I never actually felt well, just well enough. My allergies were terrible, I had constant post-nasal drip, and my throat and lymph nodes were swollen almost daily. Daily. I went to doctor after doctor and tried all kinds of medications to no avail. It was miserable!

I'm so grateful that I don't have to live like that anymore! My health is still a work in progress, for sure, but I've come a long way and I'm grateful for that. I'm grateful for the natural health providers, books, websites, etc, that have taught me how to nourish my body so that it can do what it was created to do. Instead of being miserable, I feel empowered to work with my body to help it heal.

So, it was a not-so-great start to the week, but I'm grateful for the reminder that, despite how slowly my healing seems to progress, it has progressed. Healing is possible and there are more good things to come!
