Thrift Store Score: Quite a Haul

Many times I hit the thrift stores and come back with one or two things. Sometimes nothing at all. It's just hit and miss. And that's fine, in my opinion, because it just adds to the fun! But every now and then I have a day where I'm just hitting one good find after another and it's so much fun! Yesterday was one of those days. My mom and I hit the usual spots down in her neck of the woods so it's not even like we went anywhere new! I found several practical items such as:

  • A "beachy" shirt for Luke's summer camp. Apparently, they are doing a beach-themed party one night and they recommend the boys wear something beachy. He didn't have anything like that, but he does now! $2.50

  • Apothecary jar. I broke an apothecary jar that held my cotton balls and was bummed about it. It was so awesome to find just the right jar to complete this trio. $3

  • I've wanted a cast iron pan for a long time, but they are expensive. Every now and then I'll find one at a Goodwill or some place like that, but I'm always nervous as to their condition, etc. I found this pan in a nice consignment shop and decided to take the plunge. I scoured it really well and then re-seasoned it. It works great! $10.

  • Both boys needed some kind of summer shoes for going to the pool, playing in the sprinkler, etc. Neither of them care for flip flops and flip flops aren't allowed at Scout camp, anyway. I was thrilled to find a pair of Crocs for each boy! $3 and $5.

I found a few fun things, too.

  • I've been wanting a new purse for a while. I use my black purse all the time, but it's falling apart. It's fake leather and is cracking and pealing. I noticed it last fall and it's just continued to crumble. It got to the point where it was looking really shabby, but I hate to spend good money on purses because they just don't last. I was so excited to find this ThirtyOne skirt purse. I looked at their website and found that the purse is $50 and the skirt is an additional $20. Only $13.00.

  • When it rains it pours, I guess, because I also found The Sak purse, too. In black. These go for around $50 new or $25 on ebay. $15.

  • Ben's had an espresso set for years and years. One by one, the little mugs broke until he was down to just two. I told myself that I'd have to pop over to T.J. Maxx one of these days and get a new set. I was so excited to stumble upon these cute little guys. $6.

My other finds include a Minecraft shirt for Gabe, a couple dress shirts for Luke, and a cute top and shorts for me. Miraculously, I somehow made it home without a single book!! That's pretty rare.

Next time.
